FSSAI Registration

What is FSSAI registration?

In starting fssai registration is known as the Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS) and After 1st June 2020, It is replaced by the FoSCoS (Food Safety Compliance System). It was mainly launched for the users of Indian Railways and Konkan Railways on the 1st of January 2021.

The major role of the FSSAI is to protect and promote public health by ensuring the quality of the food which requires proper supervision and the regulation to check all standards of food safety. FSSAI also promotes awareness about food ingredients and food standards. The Central Government authorized the FSSAI to offer a food safety license to all Food Business Operators(FBO). All FBOs have to just follow the rules, regulations, and some standards to maintain the quality of food that is prescribed by the FSSAI.

To acquire the FSSAI license and registration an FBO must meet some demands like the production size, management of food business activities, and level of activity. In the FSSAI registration, the FBO will get the 14 digit License number that is printed on the food packaging box.

FSSAI registration provides a food safety certificate trusted by the food authority of India which ensures the safety of the ingredients and products. FSSAI products will ensure that products undergo various levels of quality checking which helps to decrease the case of adulteration, substandard products, and material.

Can I sell food products without FSSAI?
No, selling food products without FSSAI registration or a license is prohibited under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006. Each food business must possess its own license or registration to sell products, as stipulated in the FSSAI regulations.

The type of FSSAI license is specified at the bottom of the FSSAI-provided registration form or license certificate.

According to the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, FSSAI registration is compulsory for all retailers, sellers, restaurants, and food manufacturing companies.
